I just changed the alternator because two shops told me that it was bad and when I checked it with a amp/volt reader it was reading in the low 12's which leads me to believe it was bad. So I changed it and the new alt reads at high 14's. I can not keep the car running, anyone know what I need to do. I put it on the charger for now to see how that goes. Anyideas would be great at this point

 

Normal charging rate is 14.25 volts.

 

Yeah I know what the normal rate should be

 

1) Your battery could be dead.

2) Remember, when the ECU looses power it is re-set.

You need to drive it for a couple of cycles before the car will idle properly.

 

If your alt is pushing >14.25 V under load...

...you need a new alt.
