Power Loss, Rattle and stutter from 3800-4500 rpms
Doesn't happen all the time but is getting more frequent. 2004 with 70k miles, had the engine and intake manifold replaced at 58k.
Regardless of gear, I occasionally get this strange type of stutter, slight power loss and rattle in the aforementioned rpm range. Service manage believes it might be carbon build up causing it.
One thing i do know is that this happened when the car only had 15k-20k miles on it and continued on and off, which resulted in the engine change much later on.
Is there anyone else experiencing this? I'm really not in the mood to fork out for a new car seeing as though I've been contending with new car blues for 70k miles and there just doesn't seem to be a fix besides changing engines/manifolds.
I don't have access to any real garage space nor am I properly equipped with decent selection of tools, so DIY is pretty much out the window.
thoughts?

i have zero mods on the car. I can only assume the coils and plugs were changed, would only make sense at 58k miles but I will check with them tomorrow. Why would the fuel pump only be affected in that rpm range?

I read in a magazine that when an RX8 starts to lose power in the high rpms that its best to change the coils and plugs.. it is said that the coils and plugs start to go out every 20k. Thats one of the 8's drawbacks is its faulty ignition system..
best of luck to you
