Possibly dying cat, no CELs

I am concerned that my cat is dying…I have read almost every bad cat thread on here, but there are a few differences between the symptoms…So I’m going to make this as short and simple as possible:
I have noticed a steady decrease in power at high RPMs…I have an 2004 MT with 108K miles, but about 30k on the new engine…Just installed the BHR Ignition system, and the plugs are new… I know I am not imagining the loss of power, and the only other thing I can think of is the cat…However, I have no CELs…I know there have been others with bad cats and no CELs, but I would like more info as to how likely that is…I took him out for a cruise the other night, peaked under the car, and noticed a slight glow…The cat was replaced in December of 09…So there’s about 30k on it.
The last compression test I had done on the engine was 3 months ago, and everything was good…I never have starting or stalling issues, and engine sounds like a beauty…So I’m going to blame the cat for now…That being said, I’m going to gut my cat tomorrow…But before I do, I would like any information on experiences with a bad cat, no CELs, power loss, and slight glowing…The worst thing that can happen is that I gut a cat that isn’t bad…but I don’t care for it anyway…I plan on ordering the BHR midpipe…I just want this possible issue taken care of asap.

Well, just remove the converter, and look to see if there's damage, if you are planning on taking it off, and gutting it anyway.

It can be partially clogged without tripping a CEL, as you learned.

If you live in a place without emissions requirements, cut the cat, and see if that resolved your high power loss. Then buy the mid pipe with cat at your own leisure.

If you live in a place with emissions requirements, go get your test done now, and then gut the cat. Then buy the mid pipe with cat at your own leisure.

Hopefully it is the cause of your power loss, and not a bad replacement engine.

I'm pretty certain it isn't the engine...I don't want to jinx myself though...I do live in a place with emissions requirements, but it's pretty easy to find shops that will pass you for a case of beer, or a few extra bucks...lol...So I'm not concerned about the inspection...I'll check it out later on today when I get off of work...Like you said, hopefully it's just a bad cat.
