Possible Hydrolocked RX-8? PLZ HELP!
So southeast-ish texas was flooded today pretty much and I was heading home from work. In the parking lot there was water up to my ankle but I saw other people leaving so didn't think much of it and started my car. I drove maybe around 7 feet or so and engine died(not sure whether if i didn't give enough gas or because water stopped my car but anyways i remembered reading about hydrolock before getting my AEM intake. I quickly checked whether the water was touching my AEM filter on the bottom but there was at least 1.5~2 inches of gap between water and the filter so I pushed my car to the higher ground and parked it there for 30 min tried starting again but it didn't turn over. The cranking seemed normal just didn't turn over so I thought maybe it was either hydrolocked or I flooded the engine. I left it on the parking lot and now I'm back home.
anyone have any suggestion on what I should do next? I was gonna try to turn it on again tomorrow when it's dry one more time and if it doesn't turn over I'll tow it to stealership :/ or should i just go ahead and tow it to dealership w/o trying to turn it on.
04 Rx8 100,400 miles (new engine at 89,000)
AEM CAI, Tanabe Ultra Medalion, Axial Flow short shifter.

By 'turn over' you mean it cranked, but wouldn't fire up and run, right?
If it was hydrolocked it would be full of water and would not 'crank'.....
You probably soaked the spark plugs, they are low and quite splashable.
Now it may have flooded due to all the cranking. If it doesn't start up tomorrow, deflood.
Or just have the dealer do it.

yeah it cranked like normal crank just wouldn't turn over.
thank you for your input I'll definitely do that!! :]
Yeah I hear hydrolock can cause vent rods but I wasn't sure if it still cranked or not.

thanks again for the reply it kinda made me feel better because I was rear ended at 1:00pm and if I was hydrolocked by 9pm then today would've been the worst day of my life!
ps. rear end accident was pretty minor little ding here and there. I'm waiting for the insurance guy to come and take pictures.

RX8 is 2nd car I've owned(my first one was totaled by a drunk girl) and I'm hoping the same thing would happen to it so I can get a check w/o hassle of selling it....
I baby'ed my car but she just wouldn't put out like I want her to

lol i thought "vent rods" meant like there'd be a vent place somewhere along engine to
exhaust system. I apologize for that didn't realize it was referring to pistons. I know RX8club
is very helpful and all but there are few too many peeps who have tendency of belittling
others who don't know much about cars. oh wells thanks for the help guys the car's at the
dealer now so wish me luck!(that everything would be covered by insurance).
