Maybe I don't feel like driving :p. If I let it idle for 5 minutes, I could be doing something else. I think it takes much longer than two minutes of driving to bring it up to operating temperature anyway ............ what, you redline yours during that two minutes .

It's more fun driving than watching it idle ... and no, it doesn't get to full operating temp, but 2 minutes around the block at 3k-4k rpm brings it up enough to shut it off unless it's below 0... but at those temps I'm definitely not out washing it in the driveway and so I would have no reason to move it a short distance. I find a lot of excuses to hit the back country roads- I just use the overrated flooding paranoia as validation for my wife .

 

I'm now noticing that- is that one for the '05?

 

Thanks for the responses, Gomez and G8rboy. When I first got my 8, before shutoff I was revving it closer to 5k. The last several months, though, I've been punching it only to 3k (I wonder if that number would be less with the auto since it only redlines at 7000?) and have still never had a flooding problem. I think I'll keep to the 3k rpm routine for the indefinite future.

 

I got the same tri-fold that you originally got, G8rboy. I think the one Gomez posted has the same content, with the exception of the updated method for starting a flooded engine.

 

It does not have any marking indicating it's for 05 only .... I did notice no mention of Sirrus satelite radio on it. BTW, Gomez' posting show only one side of this thing ....... I'll try and post the other side in the next few days if someone else does not.

 

The temp was around 30, the car was outside, the tank was 3/4 full, at, New York.

I'm in fairbanks too - just got my car friday - it was in anchorage before it came here, but
there has been no winterization.
What things CAN I do to winterize it (tires, obviously)
What have you done to winterize yours?
Or is this gonna be a summer car?

someone previously asked if any florida RX-8 drivers experienced problems with cold start flooding....the answer is YES. i have moved cars around in the driveway NUMEROUS times in past without letting her warm up...but she got me this week. Moved her Monday morning...shut down. Tuesday morning decided i wanted to play on the way to work...no go. Fortunately, i have access to another vehicle. This is my first and hopefully last time experiencing this problem. i'm waiting on the tow truck now....9:00PM Tuesday nite (tried to start her again after 10 hour work day!!!)

it does not matter how much time you let pass...when it's flooded....it's flooded!!!!
