Just checked with Mazda UK and apparently the extended engine warranty applies to USA/Australia and elsewhere BUT NOT the UK.

I cannot believe compression is the only factor as I would presume you would also see poor idle performance, particularly with AC on and main lights etc also possible stalling when dropping from high revs as in a sudden stop/emergency stop with clutch in. I get none of these. The car accelerates smoothly to full revs with no hesitation. No excess oil burning/use or any other problems.

I'm stumped but have noticed the problem seems to be easing after the ECU reset.

Poor compression does not always cause issues at idle or weird power curves.
A loss of power can also be be unnoticed if it happens so slowly during the life of the engine!

Its not the only factor... but some people on this forum like to play the "parrot role" instead of actual troubleshooting to narrow down the possibilities.

I'm in the same boat.

Just had a compression test done and the numbers were off the chart! In a good way. I have the BHR Ignition Upgrade, new plugs, fresh oil change, fresh coolant flush (at this point I was like why not?!), and a host of other upgrades.

The only thing that I haven't checked is the last remaining fuel pump which I think I told CRH of. The car has slight warm start issues (cranks 4-5 seconds sometimes), it loses about 20-25 miles to the tank in MPG, and has rough idle that I couldn't figure out for the life of me.

So it looks like I'm going to have to check the fuel pump ASAP.

^ just curious, did they say anything about your BHR iginition when you took it in for a compression test?

Yipppeeee!!!!!!!

problem solved. My man found out from the UK Autodata Technical Database - who advised fitting NKG RE7C-L leading plugs. Now instead of taking 4 or 5 goes to start when hot - starts on first go. Turns over for 2-3 secs but starts.

I'm happy.

Now have RE7C-L leading and 8 series plugs as trailing.
NB: the RE7C-L plugs are made by NKG specifically for the RX8. Normally only obtainable from Mazda dealerships. The Dealer in Cardiff UK denied all knowledge of the problem and the plugs. My man put him in contact with NKG. Profuse apology was forthcoming.

There are companies that sell the NKG plugs... hell, I get them at SummitRacing.

Not sure about overseas, but I'm sure you can still get them shipped to you.

Buying them online is the only option for many of us... Mazda charges A LOT (actually STEALS) for the spark plugs here. talking about 180\200€ for 4 plugs vs the average 100$ for a shipped set of 4 from most of the vendors here (Mazmart, BHR etc).

i had same problem
updated starter, problem solved.
this guy was selling like 15units of n3z1 for ONLY 175 on eb*y.
dont know if he is still around but,
my hot starting issue was solved right away.

Reading is Fun-damental.

1. Ensure you have the upgraded starter (many '04's and early 05's still have not been upgraded). And of course good battery/coils/cables/'plugs.
2. Have the dealer do a compression check.
