Angry Parking Brake Handle Replaced with Plastic

During the recent recall work, the dealer also replaced the entire parking break handle to repair a broken parking brake handle cover.

It may be my imagination but the new handle is all plastic (nice feel though), but I thought the original was leather. Does the GT come with a plastic or leather parking break handle? Did they order the wrong part?

They ordered the wrong part, if your car has leather interiors, your steeringwheel and parking brake are also leather wraped, they are also required to show you the replaced part if you request it. It is always a good idea to do so

Question

Does anyone else have a GT (leather seats, steering wheel, etc) with an all plastic parking brake handle?

I do. The leather parking brake handle is an add-on accessory that mazda wants about $200 for. I've been looking for a used red leather one to put in mine for a while now.

Thanks. There must have been a change in the material they use that makes me feel that it was somehow different. The new one has a nice grip but I didn't remember that the old one was a one piece molded handle (including the handle cover).

I only used it to park the car. Next you'll want me to tell you the placement of my ex-girlfriend's birth marks.
