P2070, Searched, any options before cleaning?

Hey guys, My car's had the classic Intake Tuning Valve stuck open code for awhile. thanks to my small hands, I managed to get in there when the car was cold, and I can actually reach and move the actuator on the valve up and down, which I assume is opening and closing the ports, however, I'm still getting the code.

My next step would be to clean it obviously, but if it was 'stuck' open, interpretation on my part would mean I wouldn't be able to move that actuator...or am I possibly wrong on this?

The only solution i see is cleaning i out, but that brings me back to what i was saying, If it was "stuck" open like the code says, why would I be able to move it with my hand?

Solenoid maybe? Maybe the electrical connector to it is disconnected? would that throw a different code?

06 GT.

Any suggestions on where to proceed forward at this point?

Forgot to add, 6MT.

It also has another code it is throwing, U0155 - Lost Communication With Instrument Panel Cluster. (Ipc) Control Module.

My check engine light doesn't illuminate...anyone think that may be the issue? I haven't seen this code very often.

there is a sensor on the actuator. If it is not closing or opening all the way, it will trip the sensor.

Look in the DIY area, there is a good video on this. Your small hands will be a blessing.

The only DIY video i've seen has been related to the teardown/cleaning of the SSV itself. Is that the one you are mentioning? Noticed you live in Oviedo, I'm in the CFL area myself.

That is the one I meant. You are talking about the SSV right? What it will do is open almost all the way, or not close all the way. I think the sensor only checks to see if it opened all the way, but does not care if it closes or not. If it gets gummed up, you can move it, but it will not go all the way open or closed.

I might be able to give you a hand if you need it, but it will be awhile. I am tied up for the next several weekends.

Where in CFL?

I am indeed talking about the Secondary Shudder Valve. The powerband at WOT in wonky. It hits a flat spot between approximately 3.5-7k then you can feel it finally pick up.

I actually live in Ocoee, which is a suburb of Orlando. I was thinking of doing a seafoam treatment this weekend and seeing if i have any luck with it, if not then the only real options from what I've read are pulling and cleaning the valve itself, and if that doesn't fix it, replacing the solenoid, which according to the vacuum diagram I read, its located roughly behind the oil filler cap under the UIM. (could be wrong on this but I'm not looking at the diagram currently.)

I'm coming from owning two FD's and an FC in the past, so the Renesis is a bit of a learning experience. I might take you up on that offer, but I myself am tied up on the next few weekends as well.

Update: Seafoam didnt do much, aside from the tons of smoke I was already expecting. Car seemed to run well afterwards, but the problem still persists.
