P0335 troubleshooting

Hi all, hoping someone can help me here...

Before I go into my specific problem, I think I should probably give a little back story. I've recently finished a DIY rebuild over the winter, but I'm having trouble getting the car started on the starter motor. I've successfully tow started it a few times and the engine sounds good when running. But it won't idle and even when hold the revs with the throttle, it cuts out after a few minutes. More details here: https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...s-help-252608/

As I've been trying to resolve this problem, I've had a P0335 (Eccentric shaft position sensor circuit problem) CEL 3 times now and I'm currently trying to investigate the cause. The sensor itself checks out, its clean and the resistance measured is within spec.

I've been going through the diagnosis procedure: DTC P0335

I got to step 4...

... and encountered something possibly significant. Terminal A was showing continuity to ground, and if I read this diagnosis procedure correctly, that should not be happening?

So I found the other end of the wire at the PCM end. I tested both wires were not broken, they where not. I tested for continuity to ground at that end, and there was none. This confused me so I went back to the sensor end and there was no continuity there anymore.

So I reconnected all the connections to the PCM, retested and continuity came back. Does this mean there is a fault with my PCM?

Did both of those suggestions multiple times, please read the original topic I linked. Even if I hadn't, they are not related to why my ess circuit is shorting to ground.
