p0076 and p2004

Are these 2 codes linked? They keep coming on. Solenoids look and test good. I replaced the APV MIL gear and screw from the Mazda TSB. P2004 still coming on. The APV gear moves very good. Also I positioned the new gear at 1:00

Help

Moved to troubleshooting. People only create threads in DIY if you have a new set of instructions to post to show people how to do something.

P0076 is most likely a failing/faulty SSV solenoid, center on the backside of the UIM

P2004 is likely the sleeves inside the engine getting bound up by carbon deposits while the engine is warmed up, they usually look like they're about to seize up after 70k or more miles if the intake has never been cleaned

Tested all 3 solenoids and all worked fine..

How does one clean that without pulling the engine? Can you take the gear off and put seafoam in their?

i haven't worked out a way to clean them with the intake in place and i don't know that i would want to. all that junk is going to go into the engine with an on car service.

the solenoids almost always only fail when the engine is fully warmed up, to the point that you don't even want to test them without a fire mitt on your arm.
