Your low oil light is on? Did you top it off? How long have you driven with it on?
Add oil ASAP. I would actually recommend another oil change.

The engine burns oil by design, so the oil level needs to be checked and topped off regularly. The general rule of thumb is every other fill up. You'll burn more the harder you drive so you may have to add more here and there. Most people seem to burn a bout 1 quart every 2500 to 3000 miles for reference.

There are a couple very long discussions about oil on here. Most people agree that 5w20 is too thin, but it isn't why your light is on. I personally use Castrol GTX 10x30

Since it's your first post, I recommend reading the great info on this site. Start by reading all of the stickies you can find. they are the first posts in each section and are labeled as such.

Scope out the forum and put what suits you best. I use 5w30 but 5w20 is what most people that don't know of us don't really have to many problems. That and get into the habit of frequently checking the oil level (say every 300m). This car DOES NORMALLY burn oil. I have a timer every Friday to do so

engine burns oil by design as noted. The light comes on when your oil level is just to cross below the low marker on your dipstick (or roughly 1.25 quarts). Which is a lot when you consider our engines only take 3.7 quarts of oil. You shouldnt let it get that low. Every two fill ups check it. Keep a quart of oil in your car at all times.

I use an oil pump to do my oil changes and get over 5 quarts out. If you live in a hot environment like dallas or 29 palms cali, then run 10w30. if your live someplace mild then run 5w30. stay away from mobile one. there is a 100+ page forum on this. If your going to use synthetic use amsoil or royal purple. There are a couple people using castrol which is what is factory from mazda. mazda being part of ford they use castrol but i know some people in the forums running castrol synblend. castrol gtx is what you get from the stealership. But again thiers a huge hundred page forum on this issue, I do remember people having serious trouble with mobile one.

The oil viscosity seemed to be less of a problem compared to letting your oil level fall so low.

He's asking what oil to use because his car is burning oil. Your car burns oil by design, 5W20 is fine.

Oil weights may cause warranty issues if you need an engine and the receipt says anything other than 5W20, you know this right?

Best post so far. Oil wieght isnt the issue, the OP doesnt know his car needs to be topped off between oil changes.
