Hey, I had a weird issue with my rx8 today. When I was leaving my house earlier, I noticed a blinking check engine light, and saw it was a misfire on cylinder 1 code. I made it to school, turned the car off, and tried to restart it and it wouldn't start. So I come back out of class 40 minutes later and the car starts up fine, smooth idle and everything. I start driving and the misfire comes back, but I figure I can make it home. After I have driven for about a mile the throttle goes off at About 70 mph, so I pull over and get towed to Jrx rotary. When we're about to run the compression test, I start the engine and it makes a very violent knocking from the rear center of the engine. Juni from Jrx said he has never heard this sound before. I was hoping it was just coils and plugs, but now I'm worried. Has anybody experiences this knocking before?

 

More information about the car. Miles, mods, type of oil used, type of fuel used, last coil change, last spark plug change. What about the year of the car, driving habits, etc ....

 

It's an 04 with 104k miles, but the engine was replaced at 98k. Fuel is 91 octane, only mod is a midpipe, could and sparks were changed about 8k ago, oil is Castrol 10w20, daily driven semi aggressive
