Not your usual Bad engine question, Techs welcome!!!
Long story short,
2004 maual, 74,000miles. Lack of power,
replaced in the last 6 month.
Cat
plugs
wires
coils
2-speed cleanings
plugs again. realy!
finnaly got a compression test and they said it passed. I asked for the read out for the compression test and they told me the following.
readings are in kgf/cm2
rotor 1 @250
6.4 6.4 6.3
rotor 2 @250
6.7 6.9 6.6
after doing the caclulations and asking some great people in this forum I find out the the lower limit for Mazda is 6.9. Sooo, anything 6.9 or lower is bad and needs replaced.
Spent 2 weeks with Mazda on the phone and they told me that the minimum kgf/cm2 is bellow 6.3. Every thing I read in this forum again is 6.9
Can someone provide me any info from Mazda that has this requirment...
they said that on the "old" chart my car would have failed but on the "NEW" chart it is still in spec... Barely but in!!!
Someone please help..

6.3 ?
unless your dealership is located at like 5000 ft above sea water level. Those numbers simply means FAILED.
There is a new chart, Its true. and they "lowered" the "requirements" of "fail" numbers. but hmm 6.3? I dont really remember what the new chart was like but thats kinda low.
Well at 6.3 on one of the face. I would say the Apex is going to fail real soon. Just "make it happen" if you know what I mean ...
for the record, a "healthy" engine should be above 8.5

Thats my frustration,
I dont want to be the one that "makes it happen" and then they say that I abused the car and they void the warrenty... oh yeah, 1300ft above sea level. not near the 5000ft to make the diffrence...
Every where I read and look, 6.3 is a motor on its last leg. I expressed this to Mazda NA and complained how the car is running. (Looking at the numbers, one can only belive) I can tell that it is geting worse just guess I should take it back once a month until. I even expressed to Mazda how I dont want to be another person that they drag around when it is clear that they will need to replace this thing. They just told me until it is below 6.3. i.e leaves me and my daughter stranded on the side of the road I just needed to deal with it!!!! isnt that nice of them?
Still looking for someone that can provide some hard evidence on this mystery chart!

6.3 is already a fail, Mazda lowered the requirements so they will not get as much warranty claims ... what a poor business practice
I know you dont want to "make it happen" but it wont be far until one of your Apex or Corner seals falls apart and trash the whole Rotor housing.
Just keep pushing it at redline for The next couple of weeks, go back and Im sure your engine will be lower than 6.3
I forgot where the chart was. someone posted it a while ago. Its like a "Revision" to the original shop manual. You can try to search.
