Non-linear throttle response

This isn't a new problem with my car, I've been aware of it since new. Specifically, I've noticed that when I start pressing on the throttle, the RPM jumps suddenly from 900 RPM to about 1400 RPM. There is no in between. From 1400 on up, the response is pretty linear, without exhibiting any jumps in RPM. I've tried over and over to gently push on the throttle to get a smooth response, but try as I might, the RPM always jumps that 500 RPM. This quirky trait makes driving the 8 at slow speeds, such as when I'm in a parking lot, very jerky.

Any of you notice this trait, or is it just my car. For what it's worth, my 8 does have the latest flash (M, I think).

haha M was like what 3-4 years ago? we're well past m now.

the only things i can think of are possibly a problem with the throttle sensors or an actual problem with the throttle plate sticking.

otherwise its very difficult to cruise smoothly at like 5mph. 7 is about the slowest i can get it to go smoothly although i have managed 5 a time or 2

+1, possibly a dead spot in the tps sensor. connect an ohm meter on the sensor and check for a clean change in resistance throughout entire range of sensor
