no power under 4k after warm up/ rough idle

I have an 04 auto with 70k miles on it. The car has no power under 4000 rpm and a really rough idle. These symptoms are only present after the car is warm. I've poked around the upper intake and didn't find anything out of the ordinary. My guess is a fuel pump. What do you guys think?

Also your SSV may be stuck open. When you shut the car off can you hear it cycle open/close?

Compression was done when I bought the car but I don't remember the Numbers. My mazda dealer is over an hour away or I would have gotten it checked already. It started this about a month after I bought the car. I will listen for the ssv tomorrow.

if the SSV operates correctly then it would be a good idea to take it in for a compression test. If it passes that then possibly plugs/ignition coils

I think I'm hearing the ssv. An audible click after the car is shut down right? The plugs and coils have 2k on them. Advance coils. I'm not liking where this is headed.. I'll see what I can do about a compression test.

Yes, the click after shutdown is the ssv actuating. You should get that compression test now to hopefully rule that out.

I wish. I havbt had a compression test yet. Another guy on the forum had a similar issue. He replaced the fuel pump and it didn't do anything so he ripped of the upper intake and found a vacuum leak and a broken wire. No such problem on mine but what of the ecu had to adjust to the new pump pressure? That's what I'm hoping

Funny how people never guess that their guessing ways only result in wasted money

Drifted88, check your spark plugs. I just had the same symptoms, found the same answers but nothing seemed to help. I was due for coils, wires, and plugs and decided to do the work myself(ZERO auto experience). I did the swap systematically, meaning I first changed coils, then wires, then plugs just to pinpoint my exact issue. All seemed to be original even though my 8 had just over 95k! Turns out, only the spark plugs and wires were bad. I had the old coils checked and they came back at 90%, wires were shot, plugs were horrible. My car was running 100% just on new plugs. You can get them on Amazon for $60 or so.

Yeah I have new coils and plugs. I didn't do the wires because I couldn't find ngks at the local stores. I havnt spent anything in pursuit of this issue tho. It showed up a couple weeks after I swapped the coils and plugs. I'm just dealing with it for now. I'll pull the plugs tonight and take a peek to see if I have any issues
