If you are skeptical about rotary's, then the RX8 is not for you - pick another car.

May want to try reading some sticky threads first to learn some basics before asking a broad question like that - or you will be viewed as a troll.

A first post like this will get you one answer; SEARCH!

You have not included any personal info in your profile and you have not posted any specifics about the car you're considering which makes me think that you're a troll.

If you're not a troll then redeem yourself by searching and posting specific questions. Also you should introduce yourself.

New to site. How about I ask a big generalized question that really can not be answered.

Search around and you can draw your own conclusions. I can tell you one thing, I love my 8.

alright well based on the **** feedback from the the rx8 owners i guess i will steer away from them.im not a ******* troll but im into dsms and supras which differ greatly.as far as searching how the hell am i supposed to tell the major flaws in the car vs personal issues that are minor and do to mods.it was a very basic queston and all i wanted was a basic answer.not some flaming troll ****.at least dsmrs and supra guys would tell u the flaws in the cars without getting flamed.not a very welcoming bunch of people.so go ahead and ban me now cuz if i cant get any info i asked for i guess il stay away from the rx8.

oh btw i did do some searching before asking the question and it seemed like the tranny was an issue.but by looking at the problems list it seemed like everything was a problem with these cars.so based on that they seem like total lemons for a newer car.so unless i know what issues certain people are having vs problems everyones having il never know.

To quote a Sticky from a Supra Board "Use the search function BEFORE you post a question. We don't like rehashing a subject that was discussed just last week, last month, or a even last year if nothing new is brought to the table. " But that board has a section for new members that we should also have.
By the way a title only search for "reliability" will return more than enough reading.

Search deeper. I've had my 8 since last July, and have participated regularly in this foruim. I think I have a good feel for what people complain about. It's not the transmission. The transmission on the 8 is generally considered to be strong.

I think the sun visor problem has drawn the greatest number of complaints.

People complain about gas mileage, but IMHO since the mileage is fully disclosed most of the complaints are not justified.

The occasional blown engine - mostly early ATs in hot climates - seems to be an issue. I don't know the true statistics, nor how they compare with other cars that had problems. Like the Toytota Camry V6 sludge problem.

Flooding is a concern, and IMHO the only thing that really separates the 8 from ordinary cars. You have to remember to not turn it off cold. The latest ECU flash is supposed to fix that, as well as fix oiling problems that caused blown engines.

There is a smattering of complaints on most components, probably like most cars.

It's not a drag racer, so people looking for that tend to be disappointed.

There are absolutely no complaints about the handling or how much fun the thing is to drive.

If you search any product-oriented web forum for problems, you'll come away with the impression that the product is junk. I almost did not buy a new TV a few years ago because every time I checked a model out on line the forums declared it to be the worst thing since unsliced bread.

Personally, I would not worry about the 8's reliability any more than I'd worry about any sports car. (I bought one, so that's obvious.) If reliability was my main concern, I'd look for whatever Consumer Reports declared to be their top choice. But who wants to go through life without living?

no one knows, it depends on your luck.

I can live till 100, or I might just die the next minute.

of course, I dont think I will die the next minute, because I know how to take care of myself, but anything can happen.

get the idea ?

People blew their Rx7 because they did not give the caring that the car deserves.
