New motor mounts = Godlike

I have a 2004 M6. Love it.

The past few months, vibrations had been getting on my nerves. They slowly got worse, so I couldnt really pinpoint it as a problem at first.

It started with excessive shifter vibration. Sure, it's supposed to vibrate - I got it. However, it was so bad that if I pushed the **** all the way left, it would vibrate so hard it would rattle the shifter.

Once I realized "Hey, I can feel the vibration pretty badly in my seat! And in my door panels!" it dawned on me that I might need new motor mounts.

Sure enough, brought it in, replaced the mounts.... omhagawd - big difference. No door/dash/seat vibration. Shifter might vibrate a bit, but thats normal - nothing crazy like it used to. Going from stop to go, starting in first gear, I can now start easier with less jerk. There is noticibly less jerk in each shift - I had previously thought that my driving was getting worse - now I can see some of it was the car!

I highly recommend new mounts if you feel you have any issues. Thank you warranty!

the vibration in mine had gotten pretty damn bad a few months ago. It was to the point where I KNEW exactly when it was going to shudder... (ac cycling made it even worse)

I had the dealership replace the motor mounts and it got WAAAAAYYY better! Not to rain on your parade but, mine is starting to do it again. I'll have the dealership recheck the motor mounts.

The way I figured I needed new mounts was when I had the rear door(s) open when the car was running they would shake so bad that it would at times shut again.

New mounts, no more shake.

There's a TSB with a very specific test to determine if you have cracked engine mounts…
