New clutch Issues.

Just had a new clutch fitted! Seen as i had the engine replaced it seemed like a good time to do it.

Anyway, at first it was fine, very soft and free moving. Its stiffened up a bit as you would expect but occasionally the pedal will get stuck to the floor. Especially in slow moving traffic etc when you are using the clutch a fair bit. Its fine on single changes.
I literally have to pull the clutch up with my foot. If i pump it a few times it returns the pressure.

Am i right in thinking there is some air in the system? Do i need to bleed it?

Hope you guys can help. Im not very knowledagble on the 8's hydraulic clutch.

Check and make sure the pedal isn't coming off. That's a common issue. Might not be related though.

I just changed my clutch recently and that could be an issue inside the mechanism where it is not seated correctly. Hard to explain and I don't know the name but when you press the clutch inside the transmission there is a bar that slides forward to disengage the clutch. I think that part may be fitted the wrong way round which would make it stick at the end by the clutch. Check all your levels first if not it took me 9 hours to change my clutch. If that is the problem you will have to remove the transmission to fix it. The part I am talking about comes in the clutch kit, not the clutch or pilot bearing the other bit.

Pressure plate? throw out bearing? It could be the clutch pedal. Mine did the same thing last night, and boom now i had to order a $200 pedal just like that. FYI the clutch pedal is cheapest at mazdatrix.com. $120 there, I got mine from rotaryfx.com, and thinking about sending it back to them, since i found a cheaper one.

The throw out bearing is what I am thinking of, hopefully that is not the problem but if the clutch has just been changed it is more likely to be incorrect fitting then either the pedal of the fluid, which are not really affected during the change.
I guess there is more pressure on the clutch pedal though and lower bite point.

Check Fluid levels, bleed the lines, Also inspect the Master and slave clutch cylinders. I had this issues I went to a stopsign and the pedal wouldnt come back up. Was the Master cylinder for the clutch. Replaced and no problems since.

right guys, thanks for all your help and advice, much appreciated! Checked the fluid levels last night and they are fine. The guy who fitted the clutch also fitted the engine and seems to have done a marvellous job. Very professional so I'm a little less hesitant to go towards the incorrect fitting although I'm not ruling it out!

I think it maybe what DJ says as its fine say on a motorway or on smaller roads. Its really when I'm in heavy traffic or i come to a traffic light etc it occasionally just sits down there. I pump it a few times and the pressure is back, so I'm thinking either air in the line or the master cylinder?

Does that make anymore sense?

Really do appreciate the support guys.
