Hey guys,

I've had my 2004 rx8 for about 6 years now; recently ran into a problem where the car doesn't start.

I know for a fact it's not flooded and it's not spark plug related. The starter, the battery and the plugs + wires are all new. The car turns over fine but it seems to have a hard time going in and out of gear (like it gets stuck in first when I try to turn it on)? The other day when I pushed the clutch in to start it, it made a weird sound and it feels a tad softer than it should now when pressed. It had initially started a few times and died within the first few seconds...

The clutch is new, and the engine compression has tested fine on both sides...

Any thoughts?

• Fuel Pump
• Fuel Injectors

 

Could only be fuel pump or injectors out of that, but how does it explain the clutch... Could the tranny be shot?

Mazda extended the warranty on the Rx8 clutch pedal assembly to 8yrs, 100,000 miles. You are past that in years. But it could be part of the problem. There are some solutions if that is the issue. Here is one good one from a trusted RX8 club member and vendor:
