my rx8 is running lean i think please help

howdy just went to the dyno today and it sucked i have a turboxs exhaust bb cat pipe and hks intake and only ran 177.3 hp and 120.0 tq on a 6 speed with 7500 miles on it but the thing i think is the problem is from 2 to 6 k my a/f raito is 14 .5 to 13.5 but at 7000k it drops to 11.5 the guy at the dyno said thats the reason for the low numbers any ideas what problems this can be he blives it my hks intake is not providing anough air presure to the air mass cencer he said its getting the valume of air maybe just no the pressure, any one have this problem or know what could be causing it like mass flow sencer, 02 cencer, spark plugs, etc please help

I'm afraid that that is relatively normal results depending on conditions.

The 11.5 AFR in open loop at WOT is normal...so is the 13.5-14.5 closed loop before 5.5Krpm.

You should dyno a bit higher after it has run in a bit more...but depending on the dyno that isn't that bad

Yep. Totally normal AFR. And, btw, the condition you are alarmed about is 'rich' not lean.

The Inteceptor-X ECU will allow you to tune the AFR's and adjust the timing to maximize your components and increase power!

The higher the AFR figure, the leaner you go.

Other than tuning the AFR. Will the Interceptor-X fix my problem of "system lean"?? https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/p0171-system-too-lean-78270/

yes.....the exhaust manifold so you can install A TURBO.

Your power numbers are correct. They are totally in-line for this car. There is nothing wrong with your car or the dyno - only your expectations.

You should be able to tune the lean problems out of you setup with the Interceptor.

toca, I think the best way to interpret a dyno in your situation would be to do a before and after. Not every car is going to be the same. Some completely stock cars dyno at over 200whp, and some at 170whp. If you want to see how much you have gained on all your mods, do a dyno with it back at stock, and then with your current mods. Try not to look at the final number, but the difference it gets you. But also, unless you tune you ecu for your mods, you more than likely won't see a huge difference anyway. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Also keep in mind not all Dynos are the same, or the guy operating it. With that in mind, use the same one for all your tests.

The cat or lack thereof would actually lean out fuel curve a little bit so it would actually help.

But don't be surprised man . I wasn't at all when you told me those numbers. An exhaust is not going to make you run 200 whp for one hope you weren't dreaming about that if you were I can see your frustration. I think the rx8 in california are on a different flash that probably provide less power due to emission requirements. That could be complete bullshit though but hey it's an excuse.

That header you're planning on getting isn't going to change much either, you need proper tuning, tune the afr's as you please the leaner you go the more hp you would get. Nothing is wrong with your car just accept it.

OR just do what the above poster say and get a turbo in there, only way for now.
