My pedal went limp.....Uhhh... WTF...
Ok... so i was out driving tonight... and 7k+ in 1st and second gears were acting REALLY wierd.... I had no idea what was wrong... I went ahead and took a video of the issue for you guys... The engine sounded good, smelled good, everything was good except for high rpms...
I figure it was the nanny system saying "you've had too much speed tonight" cuz when i restarted it... the lights flashed for a sec, idle went wierd and needles hopped then it returned to normal... I am no longer having the issue, I've tested it several times since and it doesn't seem to be an issue... However I do seem to be LOSING torque at the high rpms... (though it could be my imagination...) so I dont know... give me your thoughts....

Thats a little vague... I know the AFs good... Coils, sparkplugs... I've been wanting to upgrade them for awhile... (strapped for cash) Cat... I have had a few 02 sensors out... but the issues fixed themselves

Easy... Thank you for that... you know, I'm laying here trying to sleep (got to be up @ 6:30 for work.) and Im beating myself up over this car and all the money I'm gonna have to spend yada yada yada...
And I decided to get back on here for a quick second more... thank you for putting my mind at ease.
I think just to be safe, Im gonna go ahead and do a full royal purple oil change tomorrow, set myself up for a transmission flush. I'll probably have them inspect all the ignition spark and coils too.. (its 68,000 miles... I bought it at 60... )
I have no idea what the previous owner did or did not do... all I know is that its getting pretty close to time for an oil change.
Um... do you think I can expect my high rpm torque to return??

You could give a better explanation of the video. Not sure what the complaint is, but I am guessing you couldn't get past 8,000 rpm? I'm not sure why people are saying trans problem.... The recovery on restart seems to indicate that the computer was limiting you. Not normal for a warm engine. It's never stopped me from redline and fuel cutoff is normally well above 9,000. Didn't see CEL flash, but you could check for error codes.
And why did you tag the vid with "Sandwich"?

Yeah, this has nothing to do with the transmission. Granted if you always do the 1-2 shift like you say you are your synchros and not long after your 2nd gear will be toast.
This could be any number of about 50 different things. My rule of thumb for any car: if it won't fire up, or doesn't seem to be running properly when it does, check the ignition system. Plugs, coils, and wires are the most common offenders.

This transmission is known to be ok for regular street use, but suck *** under racing condition.
Mazda/Aisin knows about it, and made numerous improvements on the 09 tranny, and it should be direct bolt on with no modification. (certain gear ratio changed tho)

Alright issue returned... Now, today when it came on, it was after I had been "Tracking" an empty parking lot with dividers (not doing doughnuts... actually using the dividers and the buildings as a large track) my dsc was off... and I was very gentle with my shifts (I have been ever since my discussion with **EDIT** ROTORE [my bad]) lot of downshifting though at one point in the track I was inducing SOME oversteer but not much...
I never put it at redline during this time.
On my way back home I went around a corner off of a stop light w/o shifting into second and ran it up to redline... same situation as before (in the video) only this time I realized I forgot to mention something on the first issue...
around 7500 RPM @ WOT (while having this problem) the Gas Pedal Goes limp (loses its tension) I Feel this may have been a large factor that I forgot to mention the first time this issue came up.
I never put it at redline during this time.

When you say"Gas Pedal Goes limp" do you mean the engine is not responding to your right foot? Maybe it's as if there is a bind in its linkage? Please give some more history on your car.....

well... I figured the title wouldn't but I thought the video might....
When I say the pedal goes limp (thanks btw whoever changed my thread title ????) It loses its tension... As in anyone who wears race "style" shoes (Ie Puma speed cats) with very thin soles can feel every vibration and change in their pedals... Well around 7500 I guess the best way to describe it... it stops "vibrating" ?? the way it does under WOT (if you know what I'm sayin) its like pushing the pedal while the cars off.
I guess It feels like a fuel cut
Now I just went ahead disconnected my negative terminal re-attached and am no longer having the issue...
So is this an over-active Nanny program or what?

That is, of course, impossible.
The pedal is only connected to the computer, it is just a couple of resistors and a spring - there is no connection whatsoever to the engine itself.
....it's all in your mind !

that definately is weird It does sound like it's the ecu limiting you but i don't know y if would be when it's warm and one y does it start limiting you at 8k not like 5k? I know what you mean about the pedal i think it is a ecu prob....

and to the op..
does this happen in left hand turns???
sounds like a fuel pump.. but it also could be the apv valves, coils, wires, plugs..
seeing the video. could be cat or maybe time for a new motor..
beers
