My Clutch Died

So I was leaving campus on Monday and went to pull away from a stop sign. When I did my 8 reved up to 8 rpms. I was only going 30mph down the hill in FIFTH gear. I knew something was up so I pulled off and called a tow. I figured the clutch was gone due to the fraction material burning smell. I thought something was kinda up when my 8 would rev up and drop when i shifted even thought I was not clutch kicking. I thought this would be covered under my extended warranty, which it is not. So this is the secound time my 8 has been into the dealer (first for flooding I know weak). I only have 65k on it. It is a used lease car. However I have done nothing, but baby this car and be on top of checking my fluids and parts consistently. The thing that kills me is it is gonna coast 1375 to fix out of my pocket . I just thought I would share this problem.

confirm that the clutch is actually the problem..

you can buy the clutch kit MUCH cheaper online (yes, even the Mazda OEM) than the stealership will want to sell it to you for.

you could also get it installed elsewhere and try to avoid the stealerships horrendous labor rate.

now is a good time to upgrade even, get a nice exedy clutch and lightweight flywheel.. i figure you can buy them and get them installed for under $600.
