Just to give everyone "a heads up" if you hear a rattle in the trany while at idle or in nuetral, and a vibration while trolling in drive, or reverse.

The problem is the motor mounts. I had an 04 rx8 w/34k and it started to vibrate while in "drive or reverse" of a speed around 1 or 2 mph. Well, after bringing it to the dealer several times telling them I wasn't going crazy, they found out the right mount was bad.

Bad news-They are on back order from Mazda.

I traded this base model in for the 04 Grand Touring model and 2 days later had a loud rattling under the tranny. I think I have a black cloud hanging over me because this one as well has 30k and had the same problem.

Good news- Call every dealer you can in the USA and ask the parts dept for this part because you are bound to find one that may have one. I live in Ocala FL and found the last mount in Orlando. I had to beg them to let me have it and had the dealer up here buy it from them. Get it even if you have to buy it and have them pay you back, otherwise you may be waiting a long time. Good luck

Mine has only 8K and my mounts (both) have been on back-order 6 weeks,
due in the middle of March.... we'll see!

 

If one dealer has the part in stock it should be transfered cost/cost from one to another. There is no need to come out of pocket for any warranty repair.

 

Hello, I don't know the part number on the mount and my dealer says they didn't redesign it. I just started to call around because the shaking was driving me crazy.
