It seems that way to me, hopefully this next trip to the dealership will produce some positive results. My 8 is stock and it's having a tough time w/ the stock pump. I'm thinking cuz of the high temps. but I wonder if anyone else here in Vegas or similar climate is also experiencing this with the MOP?vegas.
Just ran across your posts. The only Mazda mechanic that had been to a factory school on the 8s worked at the old Courtesy Mazda. When they decided to have the stand alone Mazda store he did not go to the new store but rumor has it that he is at Peoples Mazda in the Northwest area. Keep in mind that all the Mazda stores in Vegas are owned by the same company. While I'm not happy that there is only one mechanic in the area that is factory trained, I have been told that thats not unusual with any brand of vehicle, because most mechanics are trained on new releases by video and traveling clinics.

So far I have not had a real problem that has not been solved by "flashes" or simple replacements. If I find out where that trained mechanic is located I'll PM you.

Phil--about your post^^......I just dropped of my 8 at Peoples Mazda in the NW part of town. I actually just stopped by to ask if they could check what the latest reflash I had done and the service guy mentioned exactly that. He stated that "there is a new flash that only an engineer can perform and that there was only one here in town." He also showed me his service screen for three RX8's that were waiting for new engines!! He said that the "engineer" has recommended for the engines to be replaced because they haven't been able to fix the knocking/loss of power issues on the TSB. He also said that Mazda is seriously looking at these issues because they have to keep reflashing a lot of 2004 models and they're starting to lose $$$. As for my car he said that he would have to have the engineer take a look at it and that he wouldn't be surprised if they have to replace the engine as well. I told him I don't care what they have to do, I just want the issues resolved, not patched w/ all the reflashes that only last a few to 6 months. I now have a rental car, probably for at least one to two weeks. I'll keep you posted on what they find/what they will be doing.

P.S. Zoom44....I wasn't starting rumors about an issue w/ the MOP. All I was doing was posting what I have been going thru/dealing w/ my particular vehicle and people were posting their suggestions which I asked for. There is no doubt in my mind that the MOP, for whatever reason, is not getting enought oil to where it needs to go in MY car. Thanks.
