I pick up my 8 about two weeks ago and just recently I have noticed a whistle noise around 2000 to 3500 rpm at quarter to half throttle on the gas. Am I imagining that this noise is suddenly a new problem, or is this a common whistle noise at that throttle / RPM for all Rx-8's?

might be VFAD switching noise...

 

Is it constant if you hold the RPM? Or does it just go for a second or so and stop?

The whistle noise is only for a second and then it stops. Don’t know what that is. I also don’t know what a VFAD switching noise is either.

Mine does the same thing when I have the Throttle pressed just a little bit. It will consistently do it if I have it in that same spot. But if I press just a little harder it goes away completely. Its been doing it for awhile now and I haven't had any problem(cross my fingers) so I'm thinking its just in the design. But who knows..................
