UK Lots of issues

Hello club RX8
about a year ago i locked my RX8 192 2004 up in my garage and went holiday i have been back about a month only to find my poor RX8 NOT well.

1. The battery was dead but i did not disconnect it cos i did not think i was going to be away as long as i was. Put a new battery on to my shock it started 1st turn !!

2. Run the RX8 up to temp and booked it in for a MOT this is were all the issues start

3. Running for about 30mins i turn it off i go inside to get some paper work to take it to the MOT station. Go to start it and it will not start so i keep trying till my new battery i only just put on it was dead.

4. My dad comes round with his jump-start pack and we get it going again as i am driving to the MOT place i notice a big lack of power but it was getting better as i was.

5. just as i get there the radiator light comes on but the temp is showing normal so i check the coolant and it looks fine

6. so there doing the test now one of the testers stall the car it takes them 20min's to get it going again the only way they got it going again was pushing it on to the rolling road break test thing.

7. they put it on the Emissions testing computer and my cars reading was so high it tripped the computer . . . twice ! but as i know them they over look that part of the test and passed my RX8. but one thing they did say was "it is over fuelling heavily"

Sorry this post goes on a bit but i know that the more info i give you the better

so the key point are

1. hard to start when it is hot
2. radiator light comes on if you stop for more than 5mins with the engine run or driving above 3000 RPM for 5mins
3. over fuelling heavily

My RX8
2004 192 PS
UK spec
65000 m

if you need any more info then please just ask

Thank you for your time

Since the battery went down, that means power was off and the ecu reset. It's going to take a couple of driving cycles before it relearns what it's nominal condition is.
I don't know about the radiator indicator. Maybe someone else can help with that.

Start with the simple stuff.

Get your CEL codes read, and tell us what the codes are.
If you have misfires, you will probably need to freshen up the ignition system (coils, wires, plugs). That will most likely take care of the car running really rich, and possibly the hard starting and hard hot restarting.

You should do it quickly, because the longer you run the car on misfires, the more likely you are to kill the catalytic convertor.

Other causes for hard hot restarting is the starter and the fuel pump, as the most common causes.

BC.
