Exclamation Loss of power, LOUD noise from exhaust.

It happened when i was stopped at a red light and when i went to take off the car had no power and sounded like **** (like a tractor kinda noise). I'm not sure what's wrong with it, salvo's ran a diagnostic on it and it said misfire in cylinder 2 but im not sure where to start to get this fixed.

I'm gonna try putting all new spark plugs on it after the end of this week and hopefully coils as well, has anyone ever had this happen to their rx8? I can barely get it up my driveway, I've gotta rev it up to 6000ish rpm's to even take off..

You need a new CAT. After driving, get under car and check to see if it is Red.

Even if not Red you have to take it off and look inside.

You sure its the CAT? because the engine sounds like its slipping too it squeeks sometimes and looks like its running real rough. It happned before when i was driving one day, I let it sit for about 10 minites while running and it went back to normal. The next day on the way to a funeral it completely **** out on me and even stalled at a light in traffic.

check the cat, like razz suggested.
If it isn't glowing red after a hard 5-10 min drive, may need to just remove one end of the cat and have a look/ give it a shake. Loose material is no good!
After that, we'll go to plugs and coils...

Honestly its so bad that I'm scared to even drive it, when i say it has no power i mean it hardly has ANY power. I can try that tomorrow morning and see how it works out and let you know though..Mazda kept telling me to try replacing the coils and spark plugs but I dont believe half the **** their service managers tell me.

Edit: Also the noise is ridiculously loud and obnoxious, a noise that almost scares you to even drive it cause I'm afraid of ******* something up even worse, the Engine light flashes when i start the car up as well.

I had the same problem a while back, i would be driving and my car would have trouble accelerating. it came to the point where i too was scared and tried to head home but unfortunately my car died while turning in the intersection.

Result, my coils crapped out and killed my wires and spark plugs. got them done and loved the new feel.

Did u put the new coils in yourself? I can manage the spark plugs but I'm clueless on the coils.

that day i was relatively new to my rx8 and was uneasy to do the mechanical work so i had mazda do it at the time.

but, half a year ago i got new coils for cheap from a friend of mine who works at Lordco, a car parts supply company which distributes to all dealers here in BC, canada. i did the install of them myself and it was quite easy. if i remember correctly it is really just under your intake box. there is a diy for it

was a misfire in coil 2, now that its fixed and runs fine now, it has a habbit of stalling at stops...another problem arises.
