Bought a rx8 about a year ago at a non mazda dealer(biggest mistake). Since day one it had hot start problem.
First thing bought a new starter!( helped but problem stood there)
Second, got a compression test last year in December. ( passed with flying colors)
Third, clutch pedal broke had to get a new one at the dealer.
First month of the summer car turn turns off when I turn the AC and was at a complete stop! ( still has the problem!).
Fourth, read a lot of threats on rx8club to try to still fix hot start problem and the new AC on and car turns off problem.
Fifth, after reading so much decided to save money and buy BHR ignition System plus BHR midpipe with their cat because last time I had gone to the dealer they said catalytic converter was clogged or internally damage and need 1800 just to buy it.
Sixth, bought BHR ignition System plus BHR midpipe plus their cat took it to the dealer and had to pay 420 to have it install. (That was today, 8/20/13).
Seventh, guessss lol..... Yes car still has hot start problem and if I turn on the AC while the car is hot it would shut down the car.
The dealer is now asking for an other compression test ( $210 just to check).
Now I'm back to been broke and still in LOVE with my car.
About one more year to get my bachelor and my baby(RX8) will have everything it needs!!

 

Plus on top of that I have the engine light on, of course! With codes PO300,PO442 and PO456. Yes I know evap leak.

 

well sucks ur stuff isnt getting fixed i know how you feel had mine since feb and im havin stuff break left and right

when i first got it ran fine then engine meltdown
clutch blew up
motor mounts were crushed,
ignition was shot cause of engine plus corrosion inside the coils,
Compressor assembly for a/c has a bolt broken so mad vibration when its on at idle
paint got swirls all over the paint job from dealer wash, and
blew up the new tires that dealer put on
then when i get it bk my ball joints went to heaven and havnt been able to get it replaced cause its still there for 2 control arms at the dealership hahah
we both have problems and im broke to XD
and only since feb hahah
Im callin the stress reliever thread on what weve done to our cars due to dealer i mean stealerships XD

Engine replaced
clutch replaced
motor mounts replaced with poly :D
ignition is bhr great stuff
new tires and thats bout it
everything else is still there -_-

 

to add to my list now I have a weird noise coming from my engine and possibly it's the SSV...

 

Right now my coolant isn't flowing right. If my car stays at 5k rpm for long it will start getting hot until I ride it easy again. I don't feel like typing all of my troubles so ill just leave it at the one I'm having right now lol.

 

Here were my problems

New coils wires plugs (that's a given)
Battery
Fuel pump
Omp
Bent pulley
Cut springs (still rides/looks good but still want coilovers)
Ssv solenoid
Transmission replaced
Sun visors replaced

That's about it this far. I've had the car 1 year and a month, and put 26000 miles on it in that time. Its roughly at about $1400 in parts/labor. And its still imperfect

That's easily $3000+. However the car is so enjoyable I haven't gotten rid of it yet unless someone pays my asking price of $6k Lol. That's likely not to happen I don't imagine so I'll just keep on rotoring.
