Wink knocking in second gear at 5200 rpm

Help! I'm getting knocking in second gear starting at 5200-6300 rpm when hot.
I am using Mobil and Amoco super premium. I live in Florida and when stuck in traffic with the a/c on, it gets really bad!

Thia ia happening to a 2004 A/T touring modle with all options and only happens when the car is hot, such as after waiting a long time in traffic with the a/c on.
Is the timing control not retarding the spark enough or is it just the heat causing the pre-ignition?

I just experienced something similar myself today - it happened at about 5700 RPM every time when doing a hard accel in 4th gear. Outside temp was about 95. When I tried it later in the evening, it was OK. Before anyone asks, I've been running 93 octane for a long time now.

This issue is different than a similar problem I had last summer, which had a marbles-in-the can rattling sound accompanied by a severe loss of power after sitting at idle for long periods in the heat. That problem got the old 'could not duplicate' response from the dealer. The sound today was different - closer to a solenoid sound than marbles.

And of course, the warranty has run out. This car has been wreaking havoc on my emotions since I got it. I love it and I hate it at the same time. On top of that, I still have a 4th gear noise and vibration at idle that were never fixed, even though they were reported multiple times while under warranty.

I am taking my car into the shop in the morning for a similar issue is there something I should know before I do this? They already replaced the Catalytic converter about 4 months ago and I still have the pinging problem.
