Exclamation Knocking noise?

I had to move my car (2005 RX8), so I went and started it up and I let it run for about 10 mins. When I went to my car to see if it was warmed up and turn it off, I heard an unusual knocking noise.

To me, it sounds just like a knocking noise from a regular piston engine. I'm not sure if it is just that its fairly cold (53~ degrees) and hasn't been ran for about half the day or what.

Not really sure what to do. Its dark now, but I'll look it over tomorrow afternoon and try to see where it is coming from. Kind of scared/in a hurry because I think this is the month where my engine warranty ends and its almost finals at college.

I think you put < 92 octane in your car. If you're sure you put premium in your car, there's a chance that the gas delivery driver had a mix and put the wrong gas in the premium tank. Hopefully you have a receipt, and I would go back to the station and complain.

If they have their stuff together, I would ask to see their last delivery receipt and the veeder root delivery report of the delivery (if the station has a veeder root.)

Now there's no garauntee that they will show you these papers, but if you act confident and polite there's a good chance they will show you the paper work. If no one is coopertive ask for the area rep or call the 800 number for the oil company you bought the gas from.

Now the vr readings are not super acurate, but they should be within 200 gallons of what was delivered. If the bill of laiding says 1000 gal of sup was delivered and the vr says 2000 you know the wrong product was delivered. You should be able to figure out what was dropped in each tank by the vr and thr b.o.l.

So its just the gas??

I always put 93 octane in it. The other day I went to the gas station and the pump was different than the others and I hit regular unleaded (87) and I stopped it at about 2 gallons.

I need to fill up my tank, so I might hit up one of the other gas stations and add 93 octane.. it should even out a bit since I need a little over half a tank.

If it sounds like this it's your SSV:

One of the more pain in the *** things to fix, but it isn't overly damaging to the engine operation as far as I know. The veterans around here might weigh in (if you're lucky), or, more likely, they'll tell you to search

And I too don't know if low octane will hurt your engine, but lower octane will allow premature ignition/cumbustion if I am not mistaken.
