Just got New Battery. Stall at idle.

Hey guys i just replaced my old battery about a couple ours ago. I got a Duralast Gold Top and the car starts up easy but then once its idle it stalls. I have been looking up and down the posts and tried everything to get it to work. Perhaps i just need to be patient?? Any suggestions on what i should do, before i finally fold and take it to the dealer?

more like giving it time to "build" fuel trim.

the system needs some time to build LTFT and STFT. You don't really need to know what it means, just drive the car for around 30 minutes, cruise around town (stop & go) and maybe 15 minutes on highway speed. Leave the car off for couple of hours, repeat it again, and in about 3 cycle, the car should be stable.

Thanks for the help. I just took it for a drive thinking it corrected itself but it did stall again at a stop. I will keep driving around like you said. Would the throttle body have anything to do with the stalling?

it could be, but it's rare. I was one of the unlucky ones.

I just went thru this a few days ago when I disconnected my battery to replace plugs/wires/coils. Basically the car had to relearn how to idle. For me it took 3 drives after letting the car completely cool down for it to relearn. I took several drives from a hot/warm start but they didn't seem to help at all. After the last drive the idle stabilized and it's been running better than ever since.

Thanks JD that really helped. I have been driving the car with out letting it fully cool down. As i see you are located in whittier, I'm lucky it was not hot today or the car would take forever to cool down. Im located in Hacienda Heights.

Hey just an update. When ever i start the car from a cold start it starts fine and idles fine but once i start driving then the stalling happens whenever i have to stop wether it be a stop sign or light. What would a mechanic do to fix the issue?

Yeah I did it last Wednesday when it was like 102 so it took forever for the car to cool down for me.
