Just checking again....slight whistle at beginning of accel then disappears.
this is the second time if asked this but im checking again cause i met some other guy with an 8 and i dont think i head it in his car. my car seems to have this slight whistle at low accel if i were to hold the pedal in the same spot it would persist but it goes away when i press the pedal further. i was told it is a rotary thing and just a sound our car makes. like an ignition thng or and electrical hiss. its very faint, barely noticeable but i notice it. no power probs im just concerned....i wouldnt call it a rattle....like a dog whistle type sound....thats it!! i couldnt quite decide how to explain. other than that there really are no other probs...just a few odd sounds here and there....also my rear view has a rattle any idea how to get rid of it....and my center speaker in the dash seems to resonate during talk radio on sirius.....or maybe i can only hear it on talk radio but i assume thats a dealership thing.

hey dude
the whistling sound on mine after i install the revi was probably due to an incomplete seal between the intake and the fron crossmember. Once i sealed that it went away. I also had a "buzzing sound" i found that the 2 plastic spacers in front of the reviv where a little losse. I glued them and that also went away. Just a thought. Maybe that is what is happening with yours. good luck.

whistle/hiss during low accel only
oh really...i was also told by a bunch of guys last time it was a normal rx8 thing that it was a ignition type sound.....the wierd thing is if it was a intake whistle iit would be constant i think....this only happens when the pedal is held at a certain very low accel point...once i push it further or lessen it it ceases....weird huh? also im not exactly sure but i think i remember hearing it before the revi. it almost sounds like an electrical hissing sound to me.....not as much as a whistle.....ehh i dunno. i dont want to take it to the dealer for this but i drove in my friends rx and i dont think i heard it. hey u dont live in north or south carolina do ya heheh....wish someone who has had this happen can look at the car. anyway let me know what u guys think....but please HELPPPPPPPPPPPP

It is a normal sound, mine does it all the time, nothing to worry about. I just put a K&N in the stock filter box and I noticed that it does not do it as much, altough maybe I am using more throttle

ok just checked with my mazda when i had some things fixed....turns out its a normal normal complaint....ignition and and oil pump in the intake system is what we are hearing and its something that not all of us hear but we all have.....he said its nothing. so i guess thats that.

i hear it too, i thought it was the sound of secondary intake ports opening and closing... but then i noticed it whistles at rpms other than 3750 and 6250. good to know what's causing it now.

I hear it as well. There's a very precise point on gas pedal where it can be heard -- very little tolerance either way. It's funny how it's right where I usually am!
