jerky acceleration and VERY slow take off

So for a few weeks now my car has been "jerking" when i take off from a complete stop. I dony really know how to explain it, but when i take off even if i just just hit the gas all the way to the floor it will take off slow and jerk a little when it takes off, or even if i take off slow it feels like i am towing a car or something behind me, thats the only feeling i can relate it 2, it feels like my car jerks about 5 or 6 times until i pick up some speed..my car is a 05 AT with about 55k miles..i changed my ail filter and it helped a little, ordered a k&n filter and should get it 2morrow so i will see if that helps a lil more..also i changed my coolant 2 see if that was the problem, didnt really make a huge difference, now im gonna change all my oil stuff again next pay day..so yeah, for now just trying to see if anyone else has this issue

ps..i dont have any engine or exhaust mods on my car, all stock

oh and i should probably add 2 that it only feels weird when i take off, after that the car is normal and still runs good like new, i hit like 130+mph yesterday, so its only a problem when ur going slow

Sounds like you have a case of Mazda rx8 . The car in general isnt made of torque . That combined with traction control makes your car a little bit slow off the start until it winds up . Hold the traction control button down for 7 seconds , then launch it . I did this the other day and kicked it sideways when dropping it into 2nd from redline in 1st . Any other questions ? mabey milky oil ? or rough idle ? or mabey even how the coolant level light comes on while cruisin at high speeds btw I love the smilies on this site

wait i thought mazda sent out a letter to all rx8 owners stating that they are extending all warranties up to 100,000 miles, or is that only with the 04's? get your compression checked because yours sounded like mine did a few months before i had to get a new motor.

Please keep us posted. I have the same problem with the same car and same mileage.

Also, the 100k mileage warranty doesn't apply to '04 vehicles, but I would love to be wrong.

well i was under warranty for both the engine and cat, so those were free, and for the plugs and wires i spend 500 but for the black halo racing ignition, then like 80 bucks on plugs...180 for the transmission job, and like 200 bucks for some other dealer bs

Thanks. I hate my dealer so I'm not looking forward to this. They always treat me like an idiot. So obnoxious.

yeah they do the same with me..lol.and yeah if u have less than 80k miles u will be good for the cat, and elss than 100k will get u the engine 2...and also the charge 200 for the compression test! what i did was get a 90 dollar diagnostics and since they found a BIG problem with my car they did the compression test for free..if u fail the test its mandatory to get a engine cleaning from them 2 see if ur engine might just be dirty...that cost 109...if its still crappy compression u will answer alot of questions about ur engine...for the love of jesus tell them u use 5w-20 oil! idk what u use, but dont day u use something else..that will void the free engine warranty..lol

They only recommend using 5w-20, its not a requirement. Unless you can print up fake receipts for the oil you bought your pretty much going to have to tell them what you have been putting in.

Thanks for everyone's input. Since mine has been dealer maintained until around 35k, they better have records of what they did to it. The last several oil changes I have been going to jiffy lube down the street. So much faster and cheaper...hmmm

Just a quick update, my problem appears to have been a clogged cat.
