Talking Issues with a Rx8 2003.

hey ppls,

Askin on behlaf of my gf and her pride and joy rx8. This car has seen alot of problems since she brought it brand new way back in 2003. It has done 140 00km now and numbers of visits to the stealerships from the starter motor, hard start up,steering racks and now finally power lost.

The car was serviced at her family mechanic after gettin ripped off at the dealers so many times. This garage has done about 3 servicing to the car and each time it comes out the performance varies from crap to ok.. The last service b4 this recent one had the rotar goin OK with top end great but the down side of a flat spot around 3500rpm. With the recent service the car runs like crap with no torque what so ever and top end gone missing. We jus drove from SYD to QLD and i must say we got there in one piece but it wasnt enjoyable due to the crap power the car was makin. Mileage seem to be the same around 500km to the tank.

From what she tells me this the current mechanic has change the spark plugs each time it get service but never the coil packs. Ive also got the last receipt her when she last service at a QLD stealership with was at 110000km which has no mention of changin coil packs.

Which leads me to think that its either the coil pack/leads that is causing the power lost of recent. Can the oem coil packs last 140 000km??? Or would a blocked cat cause this power lost??? Hows the timming work on these rotors?? (sorry i came from a sr20 background)

Other info; Drivin by a girl which doesnt get thrash only when i have a chance to drive it :D so the car is all stock and service every 10k or so.

any thoughts and help will be appercaited

Thumbs up

charles, TBH if this was my car i would definetly get a BHR kit but since this is my gf car which bearly hits 6000rpm i kinda dont see the point of wastin good money on this car. I rather upgrage my turbo on my hulix TD :D.

Plus we might have a baby soon to so i think the Rx is not suitable for a baby sit in the back.

I will contact brice and see what he can do.

thanks for the adivce
