inconstant idle in gear

so yesterday i was teaching someone to drive standard and now have a huge problem with my idle. any time i put the car in gear and push the clutch to the floor the idle pulsates from ~800 to 1500 and drops back down. the idle never stays the same. if i have it out of gear it idles perfect. i tried ever variation wth the clutch in and out. if im rolling with the clutch in and the car in gear the idle stay high about 1000. i have no idea what it could be. im truely at a loss on this one. so any of you guys have any idea? thanks.

The idle switch on the clutch pedal (or the associated harness) is damaged.

would that cause the problem only when its in gear though? wouldnt that cause an arrattic idle any time the clutch is pushed in?

No necessarily. There are separate idle maps for in and out of gear, based on the neutral switch in the tranny.

I assume it's the hours upon hours of tuning and reading. I'm only 30 pages into a book he recommended and my brain hurts already.

Like a normal rotary idle, which is inconsistent.

I am pretty sure neither of you is familiar with the movie.
Now, had you said "Incontinentia Buttocks" or "Sillius Soddus", you wouldn't have revealed yourselves.
