I recently bought my first rotary car. it's a 2004 rx8, mt. I bought it after the car had been sitting at a body shop for 2 years. It was involved in a front end collision but everything cosmetic is fixed. Here are the issues and things I need:
1. the ignition was replaced, and the key light flashes. it won't turn over. how do i program it?
2. it's missing the coolant tank. where do i get one?
3. the navigation screen won't turn on. is it because the key needs to be programmed?
4. engine light flashes 7 times when i turn the ignition on. code maybe?
5. trunk button won't work. common problem?
6. i need the fusebox's diagram for the big fuse box in the engine compartment.

I also need help identifying where some connectors go, but i can't upload pics right now.

I will add or remove stuff that i get fixed. please guys i need your help. thanks in advance.

 

I would suggest going to your local forum here and trying to get someone local with knowledge to come take a look with you. That's probably going to be the fastest and cheapest way. The other option is to find a tech at a mazda dealer and offer then some cash to take a look on their day off.

 

first go to mazda and have them program the key to the car, youll need 2 keys most likely but they may be able to do just 1 (depends, the computer MUST have 2 keys individual codes in its memory or it wont work, with your ignition being replaced it probably didnt lose its memory, but im not sure what exactly was replaced. and no their is no way for you to see how many are in its memory again dealer only.

after that you can figure the rest out.

Coolant tank, obviously you need one, used or new so either ebay, the forums, or the dealer

Nav screen, wait for the key to be programmed then go from their.

engine light/ CEL is inoperative really until you can have the car running. then you will know if a code is set, the 7 blinks is most likely nothing in and of itself.

trunk button, check that the valet switch isnt set on the trunk's latch.

fusebox diagram, search for the car's factory service manual, should help you out.
