I recently bought a 2004 RX8 with no remote. I asked the dealer to contact the previous owner to see if they had it. A few weeks later the dealer calls me and tells me they have it, just needs a new battery. I buy a new battery, nothing. I figure it just needs to be reprogrammed. I get the reprogramming instructions, reprogram it, nothing. At this time I believe that the dealer gave me a replcement and it was the wrong one. I call the Mazda dealer. It's the right one. I have visually inspected the keyless reciever and keyless control module and everything look to be in order. Has anyone heard of these components going bad? I heard there may be two different remotes for my model year. Do I have the right one (KPU41805)?Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

 

It may be bad. My remote just stopped working one day. I replaced the battery and it still didn't work. It gave me an excuse to go and buy a 2005 switch blade style key/remote Bought the remote and uncut key for $50. Got it cut for $3 at Artery lock(I wasnt going to home depot for my car key lol) and got it programmed for free by Mazda since they were replacing my engine under warranty and wanted me OUT lol.

 

Do you have any idea what mazda would charge to program the 05' remote for and 04' ? Thats all there was too it ?

 

I have no idea. Go in for an oil change and ask them to do it for you

did you ever get this fixed looper? i think the receiver on my car's gone bad, not the remote itself

 

Hi.. I have a 03 rx8, 6speed manual . The original remote from the car was droped in water. I got another one from ebay. VISTEON 41804 which is for rx8 mx5 mazda 323, etc. I went to an electrician and told me that it's not on the same frequency with the ECU. He told me that i should be able to find on the internet the program for my car with the chassis number (SE3P-111722) I searched everywhere could find anything. I founded a program for rx8, tried it, the ECU responded with the looking and unlocking of the doors, but when I want to use the remote, there is no responce .
I don't get it. It's really anoying.

I'm in Europe / Cyprus, if that helps with anything :-/

If somebody would be able to help me or at least give me an advice, would be highly appreciated.

i have the same problem cant program.how do i know if the keyless reciever and keyless control module are not working?or any more sugestions ?please guys thanks...

I had trouble programing my car because the rear door was repainted and the ground for the switch was not cleaned up. Once I cleaned the ground it worked great.
