HID issue - common problem?

Just recently my right hand side HID went out. Thought it was only a bulb but just read through multiple threads where the ballast or wiring was the problem, all on the right side. Is this a common issue?

Did yours come with HID from the factory or are they an after-market install? And is it a permanent issue? Sometimes the right side HID goes out on my Mazda5 and turning off the car and back on again typically fixes it.

Check the fuse as well. Last week my aftermarket HID went out after some water got down there from a power wash. Checked everything then realized the fuse was blown. Replaced the fuse, still a no go. I had to actually disconnect the connector from the socket and reconnect and all was well.

HID's are stock, not aftermarket. Fuses are fine. I guess I'll swap the bulb from left to right and find out that way.

Swap the bulbs and fuses and if that doesn't work then it's probably the ballast and then you need to search for my thread on the subject or pay for a new headlight.

hmmm our ballasts are built into the assembly? We can't just replace the ballast and be done with it?
