A lot of us have gotten misfires at high rpms. Coils are a possible culprit. Dunno about the mpg problems though. Did you have the recall done?

Cool The Gap....

Are you sure your sparkplug gap is OK? Even new, the gap is pretty wide - the strain shows at high revs. Otherwise, I'd say a coil or two, too.

Can you give us more details? How old is the car? How many miles are on the car? Are you getting a CEL or error code? Will the car rev to redline? Is there a loss of power?
A little more information would help nail this down.

ok thanx for the support.......ok its an 05 mt 30-31k miles on it...... i get a consistent blinking cel...... normally at high rpms, normal operating temp.........yes the car will rev to redline it almost seems like a little hesitation around midrange rpms..... ive gotten many misfire codes...... either front rotor misfire codes, or rear rotor, or multiple cylinder misfire codes..........kinda looked the other way on them becuz they were very intermitten before, then just recently have started more occasionally......n also i get an intermitten coolant light.......normally its at idle when cold.............or at high rpms close to redline......any help is appreciated.....ive narrowed it down its gotta be the coils.......luckily i havent modified the ignition system, took off the spark plug wires n now runnin stock ones........or do u guys think it can be from fouled plugs...........????

oh forgot to mention yes had the recall done was a pain in the *** in itself..........riverside mazda refused to touch the car till back to stock.........so racing beat intake, b&b midpipe and racing beat cat back exhaust had to come off n stock parts put back on.........so yes all recalls done.........im pretty sure that the loss in mpg............has somethin to do with the ignition system goin bad........becuz if i remember right with school that if im misfiring my HC and CO levels will go up n that can be a cause for running extremely rich which could in turn foul up the plugs????..............make sense to anyone else?
