HELP lost injector cap into the LIM
I was pulling the fuel rail today so i could tighten up some lines. The injectors all came out on the rail and left the o ring behind in the LIM. I realized one of the caps were missing. I went to pull the oring and heard a popping noise and watched the plastic get pushed in. It was the front secondary injector. Do i pull the LIM and see if it falls out? What if it fully went into the engine?

That bad boy is going to get sucked in. Not sure what damage it could do but it will likely just get burnt up and hopefully make it out the exhaust port quickly without making too much of a mess. Removing the LIM with the engine in is a bitch.

I tried sticking a hose on a shop vac with no luck, I can get it all the way into the motor but not past the motor 90 into the housing. My next door neighbor has a bore scope he said he can bring home. not sure if i can get something down there to hook it some how. Is there a way to turn the rotors by hand slow and make the seal level with the bottom of the intake inlet?

well i have been thinking of a few options.
1-try to bore scope and hook through the lim
2-try air throught the one port of the lim and push it out the other
3-pull the exhaust header. bore scope through the outer exhaust port, rotate till the port lines up and can see the top of seal and cap, spray compressed air into the divided port
4- say screw it and let it idle and melt, though im worried about the seals and aluminum housing.

Well after some more looking around and talking to a member here, we have found that it is stuck in the APV. So it is impossible to be in the motor at this time. I'm going to work on it with the scope and the retrieval tool, spring that has the fingers on the end.
The hose on a shop vac does not work due to the APV reducing in size. I just hope I did not spin the valve with the hose.

Also you can disconnect the apv motor and turn the gear by hand with the shop vac going and that should handle all your issues.
Good luck!! I'll be wrenching with houston and 9k all day but should be around on the forums let me know if you run into any issues.

Well no luck with a bore scope, I tried pulling the header and spraying air into the divided exhaust port while spraying air. We heard nothing and had nothing come out. I took a mapp gas torch (showed 2300 degrees on YouTube after on a thermometer for a minute or so) and took the fire to another cap. It instantly started to melt and was small/gooy in a second or two. I guess all that's left is to put it all back together, pray to the rotary gods, bleed over the car, and turn the key.

Damn man ... that sucks ...
I would recommend pulling the motor and cleaning up the LIM while you are at it .... that thing gets pretty gooey
There are some ninjas that were able to pull off the LIM with the motor still in the car, but I have no idea how they did it
Good Luck!

Have you manually turned the engine and checked each face for the cap?
That the cap might be riding in the middle of the seal and wont come out on its own when the engine is turned. I'd have someone turn the engine while you put a vacuum to the exhaust port... eventually it will come out.
