Help - Clucth pedal goes to the floor and stays there?

I was driving home today and my clutch pedsl went all the way to the floor (normal) and stayed there (not normal). I pulled over and found that if I manually pull the pedal back I can use the clutch to get intpo gear once, then it stays on the floor and I have to pull it back (I took my shoes off and used my big toe) in order to use the clutch again. Now when the clutch engages it is within an inch of the floor. When I first pulled over the car was in gear, the car was idling and I couldn't get it out of gear, but it was not stalling (like the cluch was engaged, but it wasn't becuase the car was running and not stalling). I am stumped. This has never happened before. I have the RR clutch brace installed. I don't think it is related to the master cyl because the brakes are working fine. It was dark by the time I got home and I am beat so I am going to take a look at the clutch pedal in the AM.

Any ideas? I would like to be able to drive with my shoes on again, LOL.

Look for leaks

1) Check the fluid level.
  • Be aware that the reservoir is partitioned into two sections, so look at the driver's side of the reservoir and make sure its not empty.
2) It could be the master or slave cylinder... and the brakes have nothing to do with the master clutch cylinder (two different components).
3) Without pressing the pedal down all the way (maybe half the stroke), does it feel spongy/lighter than usual?
4) Check/feel around the master (clutch) and slave cylinder to see if there is any fluid that may have come out.
5) Touchy subject for me as I'm currently battling my own clutch issues

Or if not any of those, the bracket that the pedal is connected to may have broke off the body, my mechanic had to weld it back. There's a reinforcement kit for this somewhere.

Yeah we sell the bracket reinforcement kit but he already has that installed.

Like Dan said probably needs to replace the master and/or slave cylinder

Like Brice said I do alread have the RR brace so its not that. I suspect it is the master/slave cyl. I just have not had qany time to even look at it since last thur (my job sucks). I will replace them both when I get some free time.

Thanks for the help (Dan and Jon), as usual I can count on this community to lend some knowlege when needed.
