Heater Help - I'm desperate
I know the heater has been addressed a zillion times, cause I know I've read a zillion posts, but haven't really found what I'm looking for. I bought an '04 rx8 a few months back and when it got cold out I tried to turn on the heater, well it didn't work. I took it to the dealership, they replaced a part, gave it back and it still didn't work. I took it back they did a coolant service and it did help, but as it got colder it got worse again. I took it back a third time and they flushed the heater core. This time it does work, though it still doesn't get very hot and when I turn my defroster on and turn it back to blow through the vents, the driver side blows cold air and takes 10-15 min before heating back up while the passenger side remains warm, but still not hot. Not only that but after I got it back the engine light came on. I have another appointment to take it in for the fourth time, but was wondering if anyone had a similiar problem or any ideas cause I'm tired of going back and forth to the dealership. Thanks in advance for any help!

I don't buy Kool-Aid
Might be the heater core? I dont know if our car has one. If not take it to a nother dealer. See what they tell you.
If you got a engine light, have them check your spark plugs.

04s again. AT or MT ?
You do know that in order to have heat, your car gotta be warm up , up to a certain point at least. and if your local area gets too *cold*, it might take a long while before your coolant heats up.
Early 04 have a problem with the A/C Ampilfer, I know its not really heat related but it doesnt hurt to take a look at your invoice see what they replaced.
plus, engine light on, 04, tell them to check coils and plugs for failures.

Thank you guys so much for all your help and advice. I talked to the dealer and dropped my car off. Hopefully I'll get it back tomorrow or monday and it will all be fixed.

Ok, the service manager at the dealership said they are gonna replace the heater core and I should have the car back today. Hopefully this time the heater will last more than a day after I get it out of the shop. As for the light...idk...just better be off when I get it back.
