Heat soak issue after sitting on grid?!?!

So ive been trying to fix this issue ive been having and its gotten to the point that im seeking if anyone else has experienced anything similar... The issue is i drift my reni powered rx8 series 1 and in the summer months when i get about 3 runs in at the track on the fourth run i am down on power still revs all the way out no misfires...just down about 30hp by the seat of my pants id say. I am thinking it may be the coils heat soaking? Has anyone else experienced something similar? As for my car excellent compression I check it with my rotary compression tester after every event. Coolant levels are fine and fresh coolant. No cat, free flowing exhaust. BHR ignition coils and i even have water sprayers that spray water to cool down my oil coolers in between runs. As i said i think its a heat soak issue with my coils cause after i park the car for about 10 minutes i can go back out onto the track and have full power. Im thinking of relocating my coils to evade this situation just wanted to see if anyone has had similar issues. Thanks All

Could be the fuel pump. Does it get better if your tank is full? Stock fuel pumps can fail over time with heat, especially with low fuel level.

If you can measure your coolant temp over OBD we'll know more about possible heatsoak.

The thing is, if the coils were overheating you would start to get misfires, which you're not having, right?

correct no misfire issues....my first though was oil temps getting to high throwing it in a limp mode of sorts but limp mode won't rev out past 6k am I correct? Cause when I have this power loss issue I can still sit on limiter mid drift but corners I can normally sustain a drift in third gear I have do clutch kick to maintain my angle so it's def. Low on power...that and when I get off the line it never kicks in up top........which makes me wonder any chance my APV is getting stuck closed after sitting on grid on a hot day?

Limp mode won't let you rev over 3k, so you would notice that. The APV and other intake valves all have associated OBD codes, I'd be surprised if they failed silently...

I assume you're catless? Are there any OBD codes, including for the missing cat (if missing)?

What do your coolant and intake temps look like?
I was told by a guy who talked to a guy that said that spraying down the airbox, accordion tube, UIM, oil coolers, and radiator/condenser restored some lost power due to heat soak.

The other thing is whether you're leaving the A/C on in grid. If you are, stop. That just increases the heat load on the engine since the condenser is in FRONT of the radiator. If your A/C is on, you're reducing the efficiency of the radiator (heat transfer is a function of temperature differential, hot air from the condenser is going to reduce the rate of heat transfer from the radiator) and dumping more heat in the engine bay. The fans are temperature controlled so they'll turn on if it's necessary. If you want to add extra cooling, turn the HVAC fan on full blast without A/C, turn the temp to hot, and bask in the oven that will be your driver seat.

My post-run ritual is to lift the hood and let the engine run for a minute before shutting it off.

my AC is always off and I've been running with no hood to try and deter this issue....also let the fans run and **** the car off when grid is moving slow

Do you have an aftermarket air intake ? Some of those are great hot air injestors ...

Also : for drifting you should adjust the cooling fan road speed map if you have M/E !
