Say, for instance. If the 8 passes the compression test, what would cause this?

Compression test first, that is the most likely option since you say your whole ignition system is brand new. If you have an older starter it is possible that could be a problem as well. You could just start throwing money at the car via parts or do a compression test and go from there.

hi im new to this forum i have an 05 rx8 its drives fine but the other night i was backing into the drive way (tight squeeze) and i stalled it and tried to start it again a few times and it wouldnt start im guessing must likely flooded its happened once before and i fixed it but this time i connected the jump leads and tried to start it and nothing it wasnt cranking just one click when i turn the key i know its a vague description but im just wondering of any recommendations to my next step to fix this. it had no hot start issues but starter coils pulgs leads and battery are all original from 05.

Well first of all don't try and steal someones thread you need to make your own usually. Do what every other problem thread suggests and replace your coils, plugs, and wires. The plugs should be done every 15-20k miles and the coils a lot of people change every 30k miles. If you never changed them then they are probably due unless you barely drive your car. You could have easily got all this info in many threads on this site and probably a sticky as well.

In addition to upgrading your ignition, check your battery, and your starter. The easiest way to start a flooded rx8 is a pull start.

Lol, anyways! Back to my problem for the Rx8 I'm looking at. Lol the guy said he did a compression test both rotors were between 50-75 while given gas? I don't think that's possible, bit i could be wrong. He said low crank at 5.5 and held the key for 8 seconds. Any advice on that?

LOL oh boi

That means nothing

50-75 what? apples?

There should be 3 readings per rotor
Those readings should be normalized to 250 rpms

Basically you need to measure the compression and the rpm for each reading then normalize to 250 rpms.

Read this ... compression part is near the bottom of post

He said, that they didn't use the digital meter. It doesn't matter anymore, once i started asking more about the test, he backed out of the deal.

The link from wcs is very helpful so take a go at it. For future reference, whenever somebody is touchy about information like that (or even completely "backs out"), they aren't telling you something

Are you sure it's not steam from the cold?
