Greedy has fix for "R" Flash !!!!!!!!
Great News - I have been speaking to Benny at Greedy in Cali about how bad the car has been driving after the R flash. My car was misfiring really bad to the point I was not enjoying driving. I had the same black soot on my exhaust tips I had before the M flash. Also when I decelerated, the car was rough and misfired constantly. The good news is that Benny sent me a test adapter ( one with 2 yellows, 1 brown, and 1 black) to test on my car. Benny was not sure what was changed but knew that the ignition was effected. I was a little hesitant until I took it for a drive and it was like my old car and was SMOOTH, not misfires. He is going to the SEMA show next week so don't overwhelm him. He will probally have many adapters fabricated when he returns. He also spoke about getting me a map the was developed for a car with a high flow cat which should help. I AM HAPPY AS HELL that the car is driving smooth again. Greddy is concerned about customer service. He informed me that we should speak to him in the future beofre Mazda flashes our car to see if he has another fix.

How can i get one??? my car runs really badly on this R flash, missfires everywhere, even at like 2000 rpm. I can accelerate all the way b/c the car bogs down, and i have definitely had ignition problems. the first day with the kit my engine flooded, and since i fixed that it still has trouble in the cold after sitting for a few hours. I'm getting tuned tomorrow to try and lean it out if thats the problem, and i would love my tuner to have what u have so we can fix this!

I have been hearing about the interceptor -x for months now, with no firm results. My car is back to the way it was and driveable NOW. The fuel mapping will be my next challenge, I have not given up on the Emanage yet.

You mean ANOTHER dongle. It's already got 3 (or 4?).
- One for the RPM pickup which is needed but all the others are there to "trick" the car.
- Temp dongle to trick it into thinking the temp is colder than it really is to allow the emanage to add fuel.
- The air pump dongle , which supposedly gets rid of a CEL, but it keeps the air pump turned on several minutes after the engine is shutoff.
Way too many band-aid fixes if you ask me.

Results of how it performs and compares to the emanage blue will follow shortly.

The adapter you identified is in the car already - the new one is just a replacement.
When you are the first to make something happen, ie greddy turbo when none existed, then it would be expected there would be unaticipated events. What I find important is that Greddy is supporting their product after it is sold. We will see how many other companies that release turbo's (for much more money) respond when their unit has unforseen problems that need resolution.
I would like anyone who has the greddy turbo tell me it has not been worth every penny when you see that boost gauge climb. Give them a break.

He never answered a member's questions about the lack of tuning control and boost spikes in 5th and 6th. That's not great customer service.
Yes, it's worth it in terms of a cheap hp upgrade. But I'm upset over losing driveability (stuttering, backfiring, hesitation) and possible engine damage due to it's crappy EMS.

RX8 and a Truk....
If I recall Benny 'helped' me with my GReddy Turbo manifold exchange on my miata...we chatted regularly...set up the shipment, etc... several weeks later I got 'Uh..yeah, we have your manifold here...what was it you thought we were supposed to do with it??"

"Temp dongle to trick it into thinking the temp is colder than it really is to allow the emanage to add fuel."
If i can play with this is that the only thing i'd have to do to keep the emanage from adding too much fuel??

If you remove this dongle, the ECU will want to goto 14.7AFR which is too high for a turbo system.
The temp dongle is needed because it tricks it into thinking it's colder than it really is, this puts the system into open loop, and the ECU won't try to go to stock target AFR of 14.7, and the emanage will add the needed fuel since the turbo is adding alot of extra air.
In a stock RX8, it goes into open loop only at WOT. Since we're turbo'd, we need it to be in open loop whenever it goes into boost, not just WOT.

I spoke to soon ! The adapter that Benny sent to me helped somewhat but did not fix the very rich running problem. I believe he has to develop a new map for the R flash. I have gotten the runaround from Mazda which I knew I would. They keep telling me that no one else has been complaining about the R flash. The service manager at the dealership I go to was going to speak to the regional Mazda engineer, but I am not holding my breath.

problem is not with mazda, it is with greedy. the last map was copied from a member to help fix the last problem.
it sucks to be a vendor right now with greedy turbo kits in stock. also i would bet that the blown turbo issue is going to be a bigger problem in the future. i mean blown turbo not engine.
beers
