Fuel Pump no power, w/r wire going to fuel pump tests as ground instead of +

My car died while going through a car wash the other day and would not restart. It seems that it's a fuel issue. Car is an 07 with 66k miles on the body and 10k on a reman warranty motor. The car has never been right since the new motor with intermittent CEL's for P0302. I have replaced ESS, Coils, plugs, wires, fuel pump,CAT.

I think the dying of the car is just an exacerbation of the issues that have given me the CEL's. I got a power probe today and ran through the fuel pump wiring and now I'm confused.

When the fuel pump connector is unplugged and I crank the engine, I see no voltage at the w/r wire at the pump harness connector. When the pump harness connector is plugged in to the fuel pump, that same w/r wire, now shows ground.

I can only get the car to run by using the power probe to supply 12v to the w/r wire at the pump. It will run and hold idle, but revs slowly.

Also, when I first probed all of the circuit and fuel relay terminals, the power probe picked up grounds on almost all the wires in the 2 relay terminals. I actually removed the condenser (B2-04)from the fuel pump circuit because I thought it might be the short and thats when I went from having intermittent ground on all wires to solid ground on all wires.

Any advice would be appreciated. I can elaborate more as I think of stuff.

When you say died, do you mean stalled or lost all power and shut off?

I'd check all your main power connections first, maybe they missed something important, or fell off cause it wasn't connected properly after the reman.

Stalled, all attempts to restart it at the car wash were futile. It would crank, but would not turn over.

Jumping the fuel and circuit relays in the engine compartment gets the pump running and allows me to start the car. Once started it idles fine, but revs slowly and will not rev past 4500 or so. I'm going to reset the ess and see if it has any effect.
