A noise developed on the car this weekend that I can pin down - when I look under the car while the wheel is turned, it seems to be coming from the shock tower. This noise only occurs when the car is stationary or moving slowly, I can't hear it during highway driving or even autocross. I suspect it may be a bunk tie rod end, but I want to see if you guys have seen anything similar

Jack up the front end. Pop off the wheel and try turning them by with the brake rotor IT would make it a lot easier to hunt.

 

somebody will need to turn it while somebody is under there looking and listening, up on an alignment rack etc. with the suspension weighted would be preferred
