Does anyone else have a super slow defroster?
Just curious....mine is very slow. At its worst- it won't fully kick in until like 10 minutes after the car is at normal op temp. At its best, it still takes longer than I'm used to. Also, its very sensitve- i.e., my car fogs up on the inside very easily....

Yes, my a/c is on, i've tried just defrost, i've tried a/c with it the vents on each option, .everything, nothing seems to help except for just waiting....any thoughts?

Mine's very quick. As soon as the AC kicks in, fog is gone. Just a few seconds.

I'd clean the glass real good and then if you're still having it you should get it checked; maybe the AC isn't working properly or maybe water is not draining properly out of the system.

 

good to know, glass is super clean in my car - i may have to go get it checked. the defrost is if anything very inconsistent in my car.

Although it has been stated many times, I find the Heating / Air Conditioning when set to high settings, to be on the loud side. 28 years of driving many different vehicles minus sport bikes, this is the fastest defroster / de- icer system I have encountered. My old MX6 was brutal compared to this car.

 

On days when there is any moisture in the air the interior of my car fogs up like crazy, I know I'm not alone because the demo car they gave me to try out before I bought did the same thing. I'm assuming it's from the heat made inside the cabin... which is quite a lot.

It really shouldn't do this, it takes a long time to defrost (a good 5-10 minutes) because the condensation inside is so thick.

I've taken it to the dealer twice, and both times they've told me it's from the rain and the carpets getting wet. Hard to belive I say, this hasn't happened on any other car i've owned.

Guess I'll try another dealer.

 

I was going to suggest that this could be due to water getting inside the cabin. I have the same problem with my windows (especially the rear windshield) fogging up, because my car has a leak somewhere that's allowing rainwater to enter.

Check your carpets, and pull up the rear seatcushions and see if there's dampness or (as in my case) puddles of water under the seatcushions. Also check your trunk area; when I removed the trunk liner I found water puddles under there as well.

My car was leaking due to having major rear bodywork after being rear-ended, but any car can develop leaks.

 

thanks all- glad im not alone, though i want to get this fixed...the problems sound very similar, and to hear that there are also people that have no problems means that hopefully i can get this fixed. I'll have to inform my dealer....my car must have some sort of leak. my old civic was much better at defogging than this, so there has to be something.

 

Make sure you have the air setting on outside air. If you have it set to inside air, the A/C will have a hard time keeping up with the moisture generated by the human animal and other wet things inside the car.

 

yeah, its always on fresh air, i rarely use recirc- next oil change i'll probalby have the dealer inspect....thanks though
