Hi guys, yesterday i hit a raccoon and it screwed up all my front lip and plastic rad protector, also broke the grill and cracked the front bumper cover resulting in an estimation of a 1000$ new oem parts, but i decided to just buy another grill and an after market front lip on ebay, i also contacted my car body dealer and he can repair the front bumper and repaint it and assemble all the parts, front lip and front bumper cover and grill all together, and he assured me that it will look brand new.

OK here is the anomaly, i have a black rx8 gt 2004 with 93k kilometers.
I was driving it this morning and all was ok like it used to be, i went to the job then at then end of the day the temperature was 25c here and allot of humidity. So i started the engine, then waited 30 second, then i started to roll and rave 2.8k-3.3k to warm her up like i always do. I must precise something, my cell was on since a while and didn't had the time to go at the dealer to check it ( i don't have a cobb acc) well i seriously thought it was the damn gas cap, its a common cell issue. Well to continue my story i was stuck in the traffic and i was at optimal temp since a good 15 min of driving and then went to neutral waiting for a light to come green, my idle suddenly did some crazy things, it raved to 2.5k then 1k then 1.5k then normal... I suspected the temperature and i didn't changed the Preston in the rad since winter, i put up to -45 mixture, so thought i should change it for redline water wetter mixture for the summer but i have to order it online. After the idle problem my car was very slow like i never seen it, it was like running to rich and didn't had the acceleration i normally have, like he needed more i don't know what. I wanted to see if it was the temperature so i started it tonight at 10h30 pm with 10c and lower humidity and it was running find.
I must confess something, i didn't had the chance to change oil this month, i am very late like 2k miles...

So i was wondering guys :

1- Can it be the raccoon, that fucked up something under the car, i checked the rad and it was not leaking, my temp seems to be normal on the gauge.

2-Can it be the temperature along with the wrong mix of Preston ?

3- Or can it be the oil ? Never waited so long to change it, ITS VERY EXCEPTIONAL due to certain circumstances and problem i had with budget this last month.

4- Or maybe the check engine was important...


I'm driving my '8 to the dealer tomorrow for some test, and i will repair the bumper in about 2 weeks.

If you guys has already had something like that, more concerning about the idle, i must say that I'm stock, bumper to bumper. I know the is full of knowledge on this forum.

dont drive yourself crazy trying to figure out what the code was, just go to an auto parts store and have them read the code for you. Come back and let us know what they find
