few questions... possible problem but not sure

so I just bought my rx8 and I have read the new member sticky about all the issues, and this brings up a couple questions....

first is, how prone are the renisis engines to flooding, and should I worry about things like running errands where I may start and stop the engine multiple times but it is at normal temps every time it is shut off?

and the second, my engine takes a little longer to start than my last car, and I just want to make sure that this is normal and that I am not seeing early indicators of a failing ignition system.

and lastly is why is there almost no info about turbo applications, and I searched online for turbo manifolds so I could part out a turbo kit but didn't find anything, now granted I will probably never turbo my car because I don't have the money but I just like making that wish list, but then again who doesn't?

thanks for your help, and sorry if there were previous posts with this info I searched a little bit but didn't find anything

1. flooding is virtually a thing of the past. I have TRIED to flood my motor and have failed to do so. The new spark plugs (changed in 2005), battery, and upgraded starter really make this a non-issue with our cars.

2. Define 'a little longer'. Are we talking an extra second or two or an extra 5 seconds? Do you notice this happens at all times or only when the motor is cold or hot?
It could be as simple as your car has the original starter which cranks much slower then the upgraded 05+ starter. What year is your RX-8? Automatic or manual?

3. Truth is the RX-8 is a niche car and turbo kits are not mass produced for our vehicle as they are other applications.
That's not to say there aren't any turbo's out there, there are.
Greddy was the first to make a turbo for our car
Esmiril has a turbo kit out there
Turblown has a few cars running their kits
Black Halo Racing is in development of a turbo kit

Hope that helps.

That sounds just fine then. Mine starts about that fast. Hot starts can take a bit longer.

I've moved the car a few times after shutting it off cold. It's always started back up just fine. Can it still happen? Probably... But it's not something I worry about anymore. I used to worry about it a lot. The first time my wife moved it, I wasn't very happy. But it's always started, so I don't have any complaints.

I would suggest changing your ignition coils and plugs if you haven't already. That helped my car start quicker.

thank you very much for that website... it helps greatly in my search, and it's the only turbo manifold that I have seen...... and the only turbo manifold included in a kit that is worth anything
